The first 8 tracks on this page are instrumentals co-written with my friend, Gill, from Ohio. I was living in Tennessee when I layed down some rhythm tracks and emailed them to Gill and he added his special lead guitar touch to the tracks. He has a good feel for the instrument. We used to play a lot of music together 'back in the day'. I enjoy how he brings the songs to life. Track 9 has lyrics written by my other half when she was in college. I gave a shot at the lead guitar for that one. These aren't studio quality, but they are 'home' studio quality. (BTW, the profile picture is not me, it's from a painting by Jan Van Eyck)
Moon Through The Trees
in E minor reminds me of the lonely feel, maybe a little haunting, of seeing the moon rising through the bare branches of tall trees at night. Accompanying guitar is a nylon string classical fingerpicked. Lead guitar was performed and written by Gill as he listened to and sensed the mood of the chords.
Fuzz Boxx
in E minor is more of a 'pop' sound. Accompanying guitar is an electric guitar on full distortion. When I had played the initial chords for Gill he asked if I was playing through a 'fuzz box'. Hence the name. Lead guitar was performed and written by Gill.
Hopeful in May
Just a random title for a short tune. I liked the flow of the chord progression in B minor. Accompanying guitar is an acoustic steel string guitar. Lead guitar was performed and written by Gill.
Coming Down
in key of A. First 2 strings open following A G F chords give a being alone mood. Coming down after tense moments. Acoustic steel string. Lead guitar was performed and written by Gill.
Ready Man
in E major, more of an upbeat tune. Getting ready for whatever is coming. Epiphone acoustic steel string. Lead guitar was performed and written by Gill.
Howling Dog Blues
Chord progression Em7 D C. Just a blues style rhythm on electric guitar. Added some organ in background second time around. Gills dog can be faintly heard in background.
June Baja
Just an easy going feel. My acoustic steel string for rhythm and Gill's electric guitar for lead melody.
Trace Tune
This was a different style for me done on the keyboard. It had a certain droning effect which appealed to me. I wasn't sure if Gill could add a lead melody to this piano style tune but he accomplished a nice response to the keys.
What God Sees
Kind of a minor blues sound done in A minor. This one had lyrics written by my wife while she was in college contemplating how God must see humankind. Credit to Cheri Schilling for helping to arrange and sing the vocals for this one.
UFO
One of my earliest compositions experimenting with percussion sounds on the synthesizer.
The minor 9th chords give it a slight jazz feel. Not sure where I came up with the title UFO except maybe for some of the percussion sounds in the background.
